History

Debuting in Pep Comics #22 in December 1941, Archie and his friends from Riverdale proved enormously popular with American audiences. The character, created by comic artist Bob Montana, proved popular enough that he was given his own radio series in 1943. The show ran on various networks with various lead actors for nearly 10 years.

Beginning as a 15 minute, 5 days a week light comedy, the series was most popular during its 30 minute Saturday morning NBC run beginning in June of 1945.
